The hall is quite a small grand but in simple and elegant way, and with simple lighting. The reason that i loved this song is because i can tell what is the story they are telling even though i do not have to look at the name of this song. The song is very vigorous and hurried, they had succeeded to perform the story of this theme. The second songs that i love named Waiting in the Sky by David Bowie. At the begin, there is one person with a small television at the middle of the stage. After a while, people came out one by one with dancing. The background light was blue, and people all dancing with sportswear. There is two part of this theme. The first part people are dancing ballet with the song of 1960s. The background music was soft and slow. The music began gradually fast, and people has became faster by follow the rhythm. The song has turned to second part, the background music is pop-music; the song is very happy and lively with their cheery dancing. They seems like a small group people having fun together with happiness. I like this one because their dancing has specially express two different stories to spectators. P.3 The last song was the song that i loved the most in this performance. The background music is pop-music, performers all dressing fashion in this theme. People were dancing hip-hop and street-dance that i really love. In this theme, The beat is very prominent and performers dances very rhythmically, that has made me very want to follow

Dancing has been a passion with me for a long time. My mother tells me how any melody had me dancing when I was a toddler. On growing up I tried learning some serious dancing and after trying both Bharat Natyam and Kathak, I decided to pursue Kathak seriously.

So, I have been learning Kathak for more than a year now. My Guruji teaches me twice a week about the steps, taals and abhinaya of Kathak.

My passion for Kathak has grown since I started learning it. After my sessions I spend time rehearsing the steps and mudras and also love to watch performances on stage ant TV. I have been longing for an opportunity to perform onstage before a live audience.

I did not have to wait long for an opportunity to dance on stage because the teachers decided to put up a Kathak group dance for the Class Five’s form evening.

Preparing for the final evening was as much fun as the event itself. We were a group of eighteen girls. Some, like I, had some background in Kathak while others were dancing in this style for the first time. The teachers worked hard with us over a period of twenty days. They encouraged the team and were patient with us as we fumbled with the steps. It was hard work as the steps of the dance were changed few times till we got the steps all the eighteen girls were comfortable with. We did not grudge the effort and looked forward to performing before the parents.

While the steps of dancers and the co-ordination amongst the team was being repeatedly rehearsed, the teachers decided upon the dresses, jewellery and makeup of the dancers. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the preparation to the big event.

Finally, the day of the form evening arrived. The parents in the audience were in for an impressive display. Ours was the third item. The girls trooped in eager to give their best and to make the class look good. We all danced to the music, perfect and well co-ordinated in our steps. I was right in the centre and was one of the two dancers in the front.

I examine how belly dance functions at the festival and how the festival uses the past as an exotic entity. The Arizona Renaissance Festival creates a fantasy culture for entertainment and reinforces America’s ties to a European heritage. Contemporary representations of belly dance are examined, illustrating how this multifaceted dance simultaneously connects to and denies its Orientalist roots in America....   [tags: Dance]2525 words

Influence of Trisha Brown and Steve Paxton on Modern Dance Essay - The direct relationship in the artistic practices and methodologies of Trisha Brown and Steve Paxton played a role in facilitating new ways of appreciating and developing movement. Trisha Brown is considered to be one of the most pivotal choreographers of the 1960’s as her work and practice shifted away from historically considered “appropriate” movement for choreography. This ideology references the modern era of choreographers, moving away from the aesthetics of Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham who worked with codified techniques, virtuosity and expressionism, whereas Brown saw dance as being of greater importance to the physical and mental process of the performer....   [tags: Choreography, Dance, Perfoming Arts]

It was a wonderful feeling. My dream of performing live had come true. It was thrilling. A never to be forgotten feeling.

We exited the stage, gracefully, as the music faded away. The parents broke into loud applause. Back stage we were ecstatic. Our hardwork had been rewarded. At the end we went back to take our bow and end the evening with the national anthem.
This was a memorable evening for me and I look forward to many more in the future.
